| UPSEE 2012 on April 21 & 28; Know the pattern to expectAfter MAH CET 2012, the state level MBA entrance exam which is scheduled next is the UPSEE 2012. The exam for MBA in Uttar Pradesh is conducted by GBTU, which was formerly known as the UPTU.
By: MBA Universe The exam will be conducted in all the major cities of Uttar Pradesh along with Delhi and Dehradun. Let us have a look at the pattern of the exam which is just a week ahead. UPSEE has four sections, which are English Language, General Awareness, Numerical Ability and Thinking & Decision Making. The total number of questions is 125. Each question carries four marks and there is no negative marking scheme for UPSEE. According to the analysis of the previous years’ exams, the general difficulty level ranges from easy to moderate. Let us have a look at the section wise trend of UPSEE 2012 so that you have an idea on what you can expect in your exam. English Language This section is a mix of Reading Comprehension passages and English Usage. There were three Reading Comprehension passages of easy to moderate difficulty level. The questions from the English Usage were on Word Analogies, Para Jumbles, Sentence Completion and Antonyms. General Awareness This section had questions from static GK and not current affairs. So if you have not brushed up the static GK part, you must do that. But you also need to maintain a balance between the static GK as well as the current affairs part so that you don’t miss out on any aspect of preparation. Thinking and Decision Making This section is similar to Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning section in CAT or other MBA entrance exams. The areas from which the questions appear are Average, Coding Decoding, Venn Diagram etc. The overall difficulty level of this section is easy to moderate. According to past year’s analysis, the questions on Logical thinking were on the easier side, whereas that of decision making area was of moderate to difficulty level. Numerical Aptitude This section had questions on BODMAS, Number Theory, Arithmetic, Mensuration and Data Interpretation. The questions on Arithmetic were easy. However, the questions on Data Interpretation were tricky in nature. The overall difficulty level of the section was easy to moderate. Compared to CAT and the other major national level MBA entrance exams, the UPSEE exam is much easier in terms of the difficulty level and also marking scheme.
