Follow on Google News | Body Mass Index (BMI) Dangerous and OutdatedThe universally recognised blueprint that is used to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy body weight is inaccurately classifying people with excess body fat as healthy.
By: George Georgiou The Body Mass Index is a 200 year old formula that is adhered to by everyone from doctors to health insurers, to the fitness industry. Sadly, obese people are being misled and advised that they are "in good health". Whilst the BMI is seen to be representative for human body fat based on an individual's weight and height, it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat. At PloSone http://www.plosone.org/ New York physician Eric Braverman commented by derided BMI as “the baloney-mass index”, and said that its widespread use “is feeding the failure” of measures aimed at fighting obesity. George Georgiou of http://m7secret.com noted "With the increasing importance of obesity detection, it is crucial to re-evaluate how body fat is determined." "The current BMI protocol significantly underestimates obesity, body fat and adipose tissue, and therefore these issues are more prevalent than the medical community is public aware of" notes Georgiou. "But what we aim to do with the M7 solution, is a preventative health program. Much middle aged health issues are totally avoidable. The problem we find is that people are not taking the basic steps to look after their own health.” he added. In response to this, M7Secret are holding a series of live webinars to raise awareness of basic life style obstacles, and to provide preventative health steps that baby boomers and those approaching middle age can take, to prevent or at least minimise future health problems. Webinar bookings can be made at http://www.m7secret.com/ George Georgiou of M7 recommends that all baby boomers and those approaching middle age attend. End
