Follow on Google News | Costa Mesa Library Foundation Launches Beginning Writers' WorkshopA panel of acclaimed writers will instruct a three-module workshop to help raise funds for the Costa Mesa Library Foundation.
The first module is on the evening of Thursday, April 19, when Aileen Baron will discuss the creative process in planning out story lines. Ms. Baron is a professor of anthropology at California State University Fullerton and has just published her third book in her Archaeological Mystery Series. Part two will take place on Thursday, May 24, when Dr. Robert Sassone discusses the creation of fully developed fictional characters. A few of the questions posed will be the idea of recurring characters and the decision to make them weird vs. quirky. Dr. Sasson received his doctorate from the University of Oxford and he promises to offer a very informative and entertaining presentation. The third and final module of the workshop in on Thursday, June 21, and will discuss how to find and secure a literary agent. This will be presented by news reporter and award-winning author Jeri Westerson. She understands the sometimes agonizing process of finding the right agent, or any agent for that matter and will offer a bit of inside knowledge to make the search easier. All three modules are from 7:00-8:30pm at the Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA. The cost is $25 per module or $65 for all three.
