Follow on Google News | "Men with Momentum" benefits AVDA, takes stand against Domestic ViolenceAid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) launches first-ever Men with Momentum: Speed & Spirits fundraising event in Houston on June 14,2012 at Momentum Porsche-10155 Southwest Freeway.

"Mike is a great fit for AVDA as his professional and community leadership embodies what we look for in strong male role models" says AVDA's Executive Director, Jackie Pontello. Men with Momentum was developed to enlist male community and business leaders in stepping forward as role models and champions of non-violent relationships. Domestic violence claims nearly 100 lives in the Houston area each year; these deaths are preventable with timely intervention. Dollars raised from Men with Momentum will underwrite counseling and legal services to assist families in breaking the cycle of domestic violence. About AVDA: Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse is a private non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization that has been serving families trapped in the cycle of family violence since 1980. Only AVDA works to break this cycle by intervening with both the victim and the abuser. AVDA operates two direct-service programs unique to Harris County. The Legal Advocacy Program offers free legal representation for adults and children trapped in abusive intimate-partner or family relationships while AVDA's nationally recognized Battering Intervention and Prevention Program provides specialized psycho-educational counseling which enables batterers to recognize, accept responsibility for and end their abusive behavior.
