Northside Youth Program 1st Annual Drill Team Competition

Join the Northside Youth Program as it hosts its 1st Annual Northside Drill Team Competition. This event will be held on June 2nd in the Shoreline Community College Gymnasium from 1pm – 5pm.

The Northside Youth Program was founded in 2000 by Seattle native Darnesha Weary. Mrs. Weary, Northside Youth Program Director, holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Puget Sound College and is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.  Mrs. Weary has an extensive resume of working in volunteer and community service programs for several organizations, including the Seattle and Shoreline School Districts and the Snohomish County NAACP. Mrs. Weary has also served as a Workfirst Coordinator, Job Training Specialist, and as a Program Director for well known Northwest organizations such as Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and The Boys and Girls Club.

Mrs. Weary founded the Northside Youth Program with a dedication to providing youth with the opportunity to artistically express themselves and have critically important relationships with nurturing and reliable adult mentors. The program also offers a drill team and drum squad, known as the Northside Drill Team & Drum Squad. This multi-award winning team equips its youth members with the skill-set and discipline they’ll need in their day to day lives.  Team involvement also builds confidence, social skills, self-esteem, and motivates youth to become positive productive citizens in local communities. Northside's mission is to teach the principles of harmony, leadership, and discipline through performing arts and community service.

This event will help the Northside Youth Program with its funding goals, so that they can continue to provide its current and future youth members with the necessary skills to be positive and contributing members to their communities for many years to come.

Please join the Northside Youth Program, as it hosts its 1st Annual Drill Team Competition. This family friendly event will showcase some of the northwest's best drill teams as they compete for the crown. Get a jump on the excitement before these teams compete at Seattle's highly anticipated Seafair Parade. Features include giveaways, a special halftime performance, and local celebrity judges.
