The American Welfare Society of Southeast Michigan was founded in 1982 by a small group of people concerned with the growing number of euthanasia rates of healthy dogs and cats, and has grown into a well-known and respected no-kill shelter in Southeastern Michigan.  The group has saved over 20,000 animals from death and troubling situations.
