Beerista 101, Q&Ales, and Ale Stars provide punters with a social, fun and relaxed way to learn and experience all the goodness that craft beer has to offer.

Ale Star: The Local’s Beer Appreciation Club
Ale Star sessions are held on the third Tuesday of every month. Hosted by the Ale Star, Tsar Shandy, this relaxed tasting provides a social opportunity for beer enthusiasts to sample and discuss many of the great and sometimes rare beers on offer at The Local Taphouse.

Cost: Tickets are $40 for non-members this includes four sample beers and finger food. Bookings are essential.

Beerista 101: Beginners Guide to Craft Beer (Tuesday 17 April)
Beerist 101 is the perfect way to discover the goodness craft beers offer.  In this non pretentious atmosphere The Local Taphouse’s Beerista guru – Ange, will step you through an informal introduction to craft beer.  

Cost:  Each session costs $15 and with this you get a tasting paddle of 5 beers and a single draft beer of your choice.

Final Cut: Showcasing the Finest Examples of Short Film (Tuesday 24 April)
The Local presents a collection of top Australian and International short films in the comfort of the downstairs bar.  This free screening is establishing itself as one of Melbourne’s best short film nights.

Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular:
More Than 60 Exclusive Craft Beers Featured From Australia and New Zealand
(Friday 11 – Sunday 13 May)

Over three days during May’s Good Beer Week, this will be unlike any beer and food festival seen in this part of the world – offering 60 craft beers, brewed exclusively for this tasting matched with gourmet food, at the heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.
Stone & Wood, Little Creatures, The Monk, Mountain Goat, Matilda Bay, True South, Feral and Burleigh are among the Australian brewers to reveal their fresh, one-off creations during the Festival, while among the 16 breweries flying the Kiwi flag are Yeastie Boys, Epic, 8 Wired and Tuatara
