Somfy Systems Showcases the Latest in Home Automation at EHX

(March 14, 2012) – Somfy Systems, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of radio-controlled motors (Radio Technology Somfy® – RTS) for interior and exterior window coverings, is showcasing the best and latest of their home automation products at EHX 2012 between March 15 and March 17 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Featured at EHX will be TaHomA®, Somfy’s total home automation system, which gives users total control of all their Somfy motorized products along with lighting and thermostats using Z-wave®, an interoperable 2-way RF mesh networking technology. In addition to a variety of in-wall and table top control options, TaHomA® is also accessible from a computer, tablet, iPad® or iPhone®. TaHomA’s user-friendly interface guides consumers with intuitive graphics and step-by-step prompts as they personalize their system to suit their lifestyle and optimize energy usage.  

In addition Somfy will demonstrate new interface devices developed for integration into third party home automation systems using ZigBee® technology. The ZigBee® Digital Motor Interface integrates Somfy's line of digital motors into third party home automation systems. Somfy’s intelligent digital motor technology provides 2-way communication and real-time motor position status updates, giving users precise control over their motorized window coverings through their automation system. The ZigBee® Digital Motor Interface is designed for use with the following Somfy motors: Sonesse® 30 RS485, Sonesse® 50 ILT motors and LT50 ILT motors.

Also present at Somfy’s booth will be the Glydea™ ZigBee® Plug-In Module. This module integrates motorized drapery tracks into automation systems for advanced control including open, close, stop, and the “My” Position – Somfy’s customizable intermediate position anywhere between fully open and fully closed. The module easily attaches to the base of Glydea™ 35 and 60e motors, providing embedded ZigBee® control.

Both the ZigBee® Digital Motor Interface and the Glydea™ ZigBee® Plug-In Module are compatible with the ZigBee® Pro Stack feature set. While drivers for third party automation systems are still in the final stages of development, both the will be available mid-2012.
