March 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Velleros, the leading provider of mass notification and content delivery for the regional wireless carriers, today announced that Viaero Wireless is deploying the Velleros Aggregation and Syndication Technology (VASTtm) platform in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) initiative for providing Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) support.  Viaero will deliver government-issued public safety and weather alert messages to their subscribers while avoiding the expense and complexity of an on-network system.

The Velleros solution, selected as a Certified CMAS Service Provider Gateway Host by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), ensures compliance with CMAS standards in time for the FCC implementation deadline of April 2012. This certification eliminates the requirement for operators to dedicate time and resources conducting testing with FEMA and ensures that they can deliver life-saving alerts as soon as they become available.  The Velleros solution also uniquely delivers these alerts to both cell broadcast-enabled handsets and IP data-connected devices allowing Viaero to maximize this service for immediate impact in their community. The VAST platform can further be used for revenue-generating services such as Community Notification, Local Content Delivery, and Mobile Advertising.

“We at Velleros are thrilled to announce this important relationship with Viaero Wireless,” commented David Peters, VP of Industry Relations at Velleros.  “By deploying the Velleros platform, Viaero will provide omnipresent CMAS coverage and valuable community-oriented services for their subscribers.  Whereas Viaero competitors are clearly limited by the availability of Cell Broadcast-capable handsets, Viaero will offer enhanced alerting and content delivery service to any IP data-connected device from the start.”

“Obviously, CMAS is a vital public safety service to deliver automatic alerts in times of crisis, and Viaero is committed to support this critical capability,” noted Mike Felicissimo, Executive Vice President for Viaero.  “With our high penetration of smart phones, we swiftly realized that the Velleros solution provided the broadest CMAS coverage for our network in the industry, thereby enhancing the experience for all of our subscribers.”
