The marshland, estuaries, forest, moorland and coastlines all offer sightings of creatures in their natural environment and there are organised bird-watching trips, nature trails to follow, rock-pools to discover and some attractions even have bug-hunting events. The climate in Devon is much warmer and milder than in more northern parts of Britain. This allows many less hardy plants and animals to survive here. The combination of gentler weather and many different habitats means that Devon has some of the most varied wildlife in Britain. The Devon Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading environmental voluntary body. The charity manages 42 nature reserves all over the county, including a range of habitats such as woodlands, meadows, wetlands and heaths. DWT relies on charitable donations, grants and the generous support of its members and the general public to raise more than £2million every year. Money raised is spent maintaining their work for wildlife conservation and education in Devon. The holidays in Torquay (http://www.grandtorquay.co.uk/? End
