World Cultures Galore at Gateway Cambridge School’s 5th Annual Show

Chennai: 2nd March 2012: Gateway – The Complete School (GTCS) Sholinganallur, affiliated to University of Cambridge International Examination, today celebrated its 5th annual show.

The Fifth Annual Show of Gateway School was a spectacular cultural extravaganza, which was applauded and appreciated by every guest present at the Chettinad Health City auditorium, Kelambakkam on  2nd  March, 2012. The show began with an invocation to the Lord, followed by the Lighting of the Lamp by the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. K Ravindran, Dean Chettinad Health City. Mr.Terence Seet, Director Raffles Millennium International & Mr.Manoharan, Infrastructure Manager, Chettinad Health City was the guest of honour. More than 180 Indian students and 50 foreign students of 10 different nationalities participated in the event.

Gateway School Principal Dr.Gayathri Deepak said, “At GTCS, besides having a world-class International curriculum, the culture of our unique school inculcates values of internationalism and makes students aware of the brilliance and cultures of various nationalities.”

Adding more Dr.gayathri said, the theme of this year’s Annual show was “Festivals of the World”. The show was a colourfully displayed songs, dances, skits and costumes to showcase diverse festivals from various countries around the world. The students represented the cultures and traditions of several countries like Philippines, Peru, Egypt, Ireland, Slovakia, Russia, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, France, Egypt, China and India.

We showcased some of the important festivals of the world like Kwanza fest in U.S,Christmas in Mexico,Loy Krathong Festival in Thailand, Fusion dance all over the world, Easter festival,Major Indian festivals etc marked the occasion with tiny tots participating in those festivals to create cultural harmony among them. Several students were decorated for Honor role achievement award in various disciplines.

The entire show was a rich blend of various cultures. Mr Abraham, the Head of Academics of the school gave the vote of thanks with a comment of the richness and understandability of different cultures and said Gateway is the complete international school.
