Jesse Orosco, Jr Signs With Agent

Feb. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- T his is indeed the son of the Jesse Orosco who played with nine different MLB teams, then signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a 46-year old in November of 2003 shortly before retiring. Jesse Orosco Jr. signed within a week of his 38th-round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The younger Orosco grew up like most kids in the United States. The only difference is that young Jesse’s dad was a Major Leaguer and World Series champion.

The elder Orosco is the MLB’s all-time leader in games pitched (1,252) after pitching 24 seasons from 1979-2003.

He pitched for eight teams, winning a World Series ring with the 1986 New York Mets.
Junior said growing up in the middle of Major League baseball, following in his father’s footsteps was always his decision.

“That’s all I knew growing up,” Orosco Jr. said. “My dad never asked if I wanted to play, I just started playing.

“It was always up to me, he never pressured me or forced me to play.”

Orosco Jr. was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008 and later was traded to the San Diego Padres where he played in their farm system reaching the Class A level.
