ACIs 3rd National Chemical Products Liability and Environmental Litigation conference brings togethe

Feb. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- February 22, 2012 – New York, NY – American Conference Institute (ACI) has announced the return of its Chemical Products Liability and Environmental Litigation conference, now in its third year.  The event will feature state and federal court judges and industry professionals on its faculty.  The conference, which takes place on April 25-26, 2012, at the Doubletree Hotel Magnificent Mile in Chicago, IL, has been designed to educate practitioners—both in-house and outside counsel—on the leading trends in chemical products liability, crisis management, and environmental litigation.
In-house counsel from the leading oil, gas, and chemical companies will share their thoughts on controlling litigation costs, selecting outside trial counsel, and resolving pre-trial challenges.  In addition, the expert faculty will tackle pressing issues, such as managing liability risk and damages stemming from catastrophic environmental releases and advising clients on climate change matters in the wake of regulatory uncertainty.
“Now, more than a year following the Deepwater Horizon incident, litigation has commenced and the aftermath of the event can truly be assessed.  We are thrilled to have confirmed the participation of 4 state and federal court judges with on-point oil, gas, chemical, and environmental experience, who are going to share their insights on trying products liability and environmental cases,” said Leigh Leventhal, Director of Legal Programs at ACI.  “The opportunity now exists to take advantage of the lessons learned from the Deepwater Horizon incident.  Establishing a crisis management plan now and learning how to properly communicate with the media is essential to establish best practices to defend if something happens.”
Industry leaders confirmed to participate at this event include in-house attorneys from Chevron, Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., Dow AgroSciences, Dow Chemical Co., Georgia Gulf Corp., Occidental Chemical, Oxy, Inc., PPG Industries, Praxair, Sunoco, and Shell Oil.
