Follow on Google News | Pearland Theatre Guild Offers Drama and Voice ClassesThe Pearland Theatre Guild offers Drama and Voice Classes at the new Pearl Theater. Classes begin March 5, 2012 and are available to students in grades K-12. All students have the option to participate in a showcase at the end of the session.
"As a former educator, I feel having after school instruction in the arts is an essential part of our responsibility as a community theater," says Renee van Nifterik, Executive Director of the Pearland Theatre Guild. "Instruction in drama and other creative arts helps children to develop problem-solving skills, the ability to work well within groups, and they gain a greater sense of self-confidence among other skills," continues van Nifterik. Tiny Tales Theatre is for the youngest students in grades K-2. Tiny Tales is creative drama at its finest where the children learn to develop and use their imaginations to explore theater through stories, song, and movement. Two performance based classes are offered for students in grades 3-6. Both The Lollipop Caper and Law and Disorder: Comic Intent are instructional classes in the theater arts that culminate in a play at the end of the session. Tween and Teen Comedy Improv is a class in utilizing comedic improv techniques. This class will really appeal to tweens and teens who have a lot of energy and like to perform. They will learn to think on their toes and be creative while having a blast. Pop Idol Voice is for students in grades 3 and up. This group voice class will give students the chance to learn vocal techniques, stage presence, how to select a song that is appropriate for their voice and powerful microphone techniques. All classes are taught by experienced teachers. Tuition fees start at $65 per month with no additional costume or recital fees necessary. All students also receive a free t-shirt and binder for the session. All classes are held at the new Pearl Theater located near Shadow Creek Ranch at 14803 Park Almeda, Houston, TX 77047.
