Local Realtors raise $50,000 to cure type 1 diabetes

Feb. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (2/8/12) –With two days left in the calendar year, Watson Realty Corp.™ associates, staff and generous customers pulled together to collect the last few dollars to meet the 2011 company-pledged goal of $50,000 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  
“We are so grateful to everyone who donated their time and funds to help us accomplish this tremendous achievement,” shared Paula Silberberg, Watson Cares general council chair.
Fundraising was done by over 40 individual offices from St. Marys, Ga. to Kissimmee, Fla., including the Jacksonville and surrounding areas.  Some of the efforts were raffle events, yard sales and craft fairs but the greatest funds raised were generated from the company-wide live concert benefit held in September.  The live music performance was given by the band, Aire Traffic, which donated their time to the cause.
The $50,000 raised is more than four times the amount raised in 2010 during the first year of the Watson Cares initiative.  The bar has risen even further for 2012 with the new goal set at $60,000 for JDRF.  The first Watson Cares fundraising event for 2012 will be in March at the JDRF Walk for the Cure in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and Orlando.  The second annual concert event will be held at UNF on April 28, 2012.  For ticket information, e-mail WatsonCares@WatsonRealtyCorp.com.
