Feb. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Kitchen wall tiles and bathroom wall tiles come in many variations; sometimes the vast amount of wall tiles available sometimes makes the choice harder because just when we think we have chosen the right wall tile for us, there are other styles and designs that catch our eye. We may also have a firm idea on the wall tile design we want, only to visit the tile store and see something else and completely change course.

Choosing wall tiles is a very personal choice because no two rooms are the same and your personal preferences will differ from others. Always stay true to the design styles you like because this will ensure that the finished product will be successful, often when we try and create a wall tile design we are not comfortable with, we don’t put our heart into it and often end up changing it later on.

The first aspect to consider is the size of the room, for smaller rooms chooses lighter wall tile colours that will bring the natural into the home and reflect back the light. Glass wall tiles can be used to add colour and vibrancy and glass tiles will also help open up the room well. Larger rooms have more scope to user darker coloured wall tiles because the size of the room will not matter too much.

The size of the tiles will also create an ambience and style and the types you choose will reflect this. Home owners very often choose to use different sizes in one room such as using standard sized wall tiles combined with smaller mosaic wall tiles. This adds real contrast and can create a modern contemporary environment. Mosaic tiles are great for creating and achieving both modern and traditional styles and there are vast amounts of choice.

The material of the wall tile you use does matter also because there are different preparation and installation techniques for different materials. Natural stone wall tiles have to be sealed prior to and after installation but once they are installed, they have great presence. Ceramic wall tiles and porcelain wall tiles are very commonly used in kitchen areas because of their durability and hard wearing capabilities.  Glass wall tiles are also now very common as more home owners realise their potential, they are very hygienic wall tiles because they have a low absorbency rate which means they don’t absorb moisture easily, they can also be cleaned and maintained easily and will last the test of time.
