By: Summer Poche Summer Poche, a team leader of French Camp Guest Services, said, “The completed Bed and Breakfast renovations creates a look that is more authentic with the 1800s style of the cabin, while still keeping the comfort that guests want.” Renovations included replacing the carpet with wood floors downstairs, replacing furniture with pieces that fit the 1800s style of décor, renovations to the kitchen, recarpeting the upstairs areas, replacing all linens with white linens and slip covering the furniture. Planning a road trip to the French Camp Historic District is a step back in time. Visitors can see volunteers dressed in 1800s style dresses during tours of the Historic Village. The local museum tells the story of the 125-year history of French Camp Academy. Visitors can enjoy lunch at the rustic dining area of the Council House Café and browse for locally handcrafted gifts at the Log Cabin Gift Shop. Visitors to the Welcome Center Bakery can see a bread-making program where Miss Annie making the famous white yeast bread, a tradition of French Camp Academy for over fifty years. The Bed and Breakfast Inn provides a relaxing night’s stay where guests can enjoy the peace of this historic “small town that makes a difference.” Located directly on the Natchez Trace, the French Camp Historic District is a destination stop for those who want to experience the history and serenity of rural Mississippi in a cozy Bed and Breakfast, café and gift shop.
