Protect your biggest investment...your house.

A house is the single biggest investment most of us will make in our lifetime. It is not only the physical embodiment of a “home”, but also an investment that can grow...if we take care of it and do the right things.

Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Protect your biggest investment with home energy improvements

“A house is the single biggest investment most of us will make in our lifetime.  It is not only the physical embodiment of a “home”, but also an investment that can grow...if we take care of it and do the right things,” said Brian Paterson, vice president of New Buffalo Impact (NBI), 34 Peuquet Parkway, Tonawanda, NY based home energy improvement company.

He explained, “Protecting your investment, and taking care of a house, can mean doing a lot of things, but one sure fire way to accomplish it is to make sure your home is energy efficient...and that means making sure it is  properly prepared to keep nature’s forces from putting a chill on your home’s value.”

According to Paterson there are a lot of things a home owner can do including:  improving insulation and air sealing; replacing old energy inefficient appliances with more modern ENERGY STAR ones; upgrading old windows and doors with new more energy efficient ones; installing a programmable thermostat; and fixing, repairing, or replacing aging furnaces and air conditioning systems with new units.

Paterson also recommends having an accredited professional conduct a high tech comprehensive home energy audit to provide details on any energy saving measures a home owner should take including: insulation, doors, windows, air sealing, and energy efficient heating and cooling systems.

NBI is an BPI Accredited Contractor and an ENERGY STAR partner.

Paterson said, “Of course, developing a home energy improvement plan and following it will do more than protect your investment in the long run.  It will save you money each day you reside in your home by reducing heating and cooling costs.  An energy efficient home can save 35% or more in energy costs each year.  That can add up to a lot of instant cash in your pocket!”

He concluded, “There are more benefits too...like helping to conserve our energy resources, improving the environment and just making life in your house a whole lot more comfortable. Your home is your biggest investment and deserves to receive the care it deserves.  Make your home more energy efficient and watch your investment grow.”

New Buffalo Impact is a nonprofit corporation established in 1998 to assist homeowners, both single and multi-family, to achieve energy savings in their homes. NBI provides homeowners with a complete assessment of suggested energy related improvements and solutions.

In addition to conducting Comprehensive Home Energy Assessment, New Buffalo Impact performs the necessary home energy improvement work as well, including insulation, air sealing, windows and doors, furnaces, air conditioners, and energy efficiency appliances.

Paterson said, “We are currently offering a free, or reduced cost, Comprehensive Home Energy Assessment in conjunction with Green Jobs - Green NY.  In addition, we are now able to assist a home owner in getting a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® incentive on the cost of eligible energy efficiency improvements up to $3,000. We are also offering an additional NBI 10% cash back incentive on top of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR incentive.”

Paterson also pointed out that NBI works with home owners to identify, and apply for, other various financial assistance programs.
