International Academy of Hair Design Create Future Skills from Old Movie Themes

Jan. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Oscar Wilde’s famous quote “Life imitates art” will hold true for the art of hair when cosmetology students at International Academy of Hair Design, 4812 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe recreate the “Enchantment under the Sea” prom scene from the movie Back to the Future for the cosmetology school’s Open House on Feb. 7.
    The Open House will be 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tempe cosmetology school and will include a student fantasy hair competition, as well as speakers from the beauty business, tours of the school, free samples, door prizes and refreshments.
    “The “Back to the Future” movie is a great art form to imitate as it engages the past, present and future in an imaginative way,” said Matt Salusky, director of IAHD’s Tempe location. “Our Open House is the same month as Arizona’s 100th birthday so it made sense for us to use this historical example to show off our student’s skills and allow future students to see what we have to offer.”
   In addition to International Academy of Hair Design in Tempe, the company owns IAHD schools at Desert Sky Mall, 7611 W Thomas in Phoenix, Fiesta Mall, 1445 W. Southern in Mesa, 9617 N. Metro Parkway in the Metro Center Mall in Phoenix, as well as 16 cosmetology schools throughout the U.S.  Out-of-state schools include: nine schools in Texas and one school in Oklahoma under the name ITS Academy of Beauty College; four locations in New Mexico under the Olympian University moniker, as well as Hair Benders Academy in Florida.
    Open Houses for the other Arizona cosmetology schools will be Feb. 23 at Desert Sky, Feb. 29 at Fiesta Mall and March 21 at Metro Center. All events will be at the school sites from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include student hairs competitions, free samples, finger foods, tours of the campus and guest speakers.
