FromDual offers Monitoring as a Service for MySQL

Jan. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Zürich -- The near Zürich based FromDual launched its new Performance Monitoring for MySQL as a Service (MaaS) solution.

The already former known Performance Monitor for MySQL which is based on Zabbix and FromDual's MySQL monitoring modules was extended in this new release by the Monitoring as a Service (MaaS) functionality.

The concept behind it is very simple: The so called monitoring agent is downloaded from the web and installed on a local machine or a cloud server.
To send the data to the monitoring service a key is required. The agent sends all performance data to the MaaS server where they are stored to build performance graphs.
With a web-browser customers can access those performance graphs and get a picture of what is happening on their MySQL databases.

The software is freely available and for transparency reasons the source is open. The installation on client side takes about 5 minutes (installing the software, storing the provided configuration file and scheduling the monitoring agent).

For customers the big advantage of this service is that they do not need additional hardware for the monitoring server. The monitoring agent and service is continuously improved and adapted to new requirements and customers do not have to take care about upgrading of the monitor. The whole maintenance of the monitor can be out-sourced. Upgrading the agent is a one minute task and can be done on-the-fly.
