Jan. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club of Dallas has nominated Warrior Group, a DeSoto-based general contractor that serves public and private commercial construction customers, for a prestigious Corporate Citizen of the Year award. This annual program recognizes companies that “go the extra mile” through charitable and volunteer efforts that serve the North Texas community.

“Warrior Group is honored to have been nominated for this award,” said Gail Warrior, founder and chief executive officer of Warrior Group. “As an organization, we believe in giving back to the community by supporting educational programs that help develop future leaders. We sponsor programs that seek to inspire participants with the power of learning and motivate them to succeed. Not only do individuals benefit from this approach, but communities are strengthened as well.”

Warrior Group supports underserved children in North Texas through its Heart of a Warrior Charitable Foundation. Additionally, each year, Warrior Group sponsors The Warrior Academy, a free eight-week program for owners and principals of small companies in the construction industry.

The Heart of a Warrior (HOAW) Foundation’s signature project is the Young Warriors Summer Learning Program, an eight-week summer academic enrichment program providing activities that are educational, cultural, and life enhancing in a safe, healthy environment. The goal of the program is to reduce the learning gap often seen in children that do not have access to quality learning programs during the summer.

The Warrior Academy offers small business owners practical, real-world information that they can use to grow their companies. Successful professionals from Warrior Group and other companies provide tips, tools and techniques that help participants develop effective practices and avoid common mistakes.

Through her long history of community involvement, Gail Warrior leads by example. In addition to her work with HOAW, Warrior is also involved in a variety of civic and business organizations, including Young Presidents’ Organization North Texas, Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Assembly, Dallas Regional Chamber, Entrepreneurs for North Texas, and Leadership Dallas. Warrior Group employees likewise give of their time and talents to many charitable causes in the community. Warrior Group supports their efforts by providing paid time off for volunteer activities.

According to the Rotary Club of Dallas, countless thousands of Dallas residents and many non-profit organizations benefit every year from the charitable and volunteer efforts of local corporations and their employees. This commitment to the community exemplifies the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”
