| ![]() "Fill the Bowl" Donation Drive to Support Friends for Life Underway at Pete and Mac's GilbertPete and Mac's Gilbert Pet Resort is hosting a supplies donation drive for Friends for Life Animal Rescue running through Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 5th, 2012. Drop off donations at Pete and Mac's Pet Resort in Gilbert – 321 E Elliot Rd.
Friends for Life began in 1993 - then known as Citizens for Tempe Strays. Within two years our organization had a solid volunteer base, a dedicated board of directors, and was handling hundreds of adoptions per year. In 1996, after only three short years, Friends for Life was able to lease three buildings in downtown Gilbert - a place that animals call "home" until they find a family of their very own. Friends for Life Animal Rescue is dedicated to the homeless and stray animals living on the streets and in the deserts. These animals do not have an advocate and will likely suffer starvation, illness, or injury as they try to survive alone. Animals awaiting adoption have no time limit to find their adoptive homes; however, our goal is to find a permanent, lifetime, loving home for every animal in our care. Adopting a cat or dog from Friends for Life not only gives THAT animal a new lease on life, but also allows our volunteers to rescue ANOTHER cat or dog that may not have had a tomorrow. Friends for Life does not euthanize animals as a means of population control or convenience. Friends for Life has partnered with Pete and Mac's Pet Resort for donation drop off at their Gilbert pet boarding, daycare, grooming and training facility. Pete and Mac's (www.petemac.com) The number of dogs and cats in rescues is at an all time high, as the struggling economy has forced many families to surrender a pet they can no longer care for. Some families in desperate situations have even resorted to leaving their pets behind in foreclosed homes. Your supplies donations are helpful for continued care and rescue of these pets. Friends for Life is actively involved in rescuing abandoned or homeless animals from the streets, rehabilitating them, and finding them loving forever homes. By donating supplies to Friends for Life during the FILL THE BOWL SUPPLIES DRIVE, as well as throughout the year, you can help ensure that displaced pets are kept safe and healthy until they find their new forever homes. "We are so appreciative of the support from local businesses like Pete and Mac's. They help make it possible for us to rescue, shelter, care for, and find forever homes for these wonderful dogs and cats.” Kathy Dunham, President Friends for Life Board of Directors.
