“Holidays depression gone: how to cultivate joyful living during the holidays” (http://www.iswb.org/holidays-depression-how-to-live-joyfully-during-holidays/) provides 8 approaches to live joyfully during the holidays.

Winter holidays bring parties, celebrations, cheering, sharing, etc.. Unfortunately, people often attach high expectations to them, and this may result in holidays depression. “Holidays depression gone: how to cultivate joyful living during the holidays” (http://www.iswb.org/holidays-depression-how-to-live-joyfully-during-holidays/) addresses opportunities and question marks which arise during the holidays.

"Be present, and accepting" is one of the 8 steps people can embrace to live joyfully during the holidays. "Start with yourself. If you feel joyful in the situation you are now, than enjoy it fully and share it with people around you! Joy comes from inside, and grows when shared" says Frank Ra, founder of the Institute of Subjective Well-Being.

"If you feel the current situation is neutral, then just enjoy the space. Right here and now, everything is fine. When the time for celebrations comes, you will have plenty of energy and resources to be part of it. If you feel down, then just breath. Breath in, breath out, Breath slowly, to relax your sympathetic system. You may have your lucky charm, your favourite jokes to tell, etc. However, sometimes you may not be able to use them. Breathing is always with you, so keep it your friend. If you are spending time with someone you love, breathe. It will allow you to be present with that person, rather than thinking about work or other things you need to do".
