Dec. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Sahit Muja:  US National debt reaches $15.12 trillion

The U.S. Congress cleared a $1 trillion spending bill to avert a government shutdown.
We don’t have a taxing problem. We have a spending problem. We’re like a leaky boat in a hurricane. We can’t bail out the spending fast enough to save the boat from sinking in a sea of red ink.

The various levels of government spend money on everything and anything that they can conceive of in their fertile imaginations.

Spending is an addiction for legislators and bureaucrats. Do they live in this dimension where we have over 9% unemployment and probably double that when you take into account underemployment?

Apparently not, since they continue to propose spending measures.
The road President Obama has been traveling is the wrong road, but Democrats refuse to accept the blindingly obvious truth.

Capitalism is about the market being allowed to apply its process to weed out the weak from the strong.
In a true Capitalist system the useless banks would go bust and the careful bankers, who judged the risks correctly, would prosper

Perhaps the place to start cutting spending is the White House, the members of the House and Senate and all of their staffs need to be put on pay for performance .

How about a 50% pay cut with targeted metrics as the deficit moves toward being balanced.
Those of us who manage homes and businesses have to make sacrifices and live within our means.

Now is the time for those who "take" our money to have to live within their means...the only way to do this is make it count in their own personal pocketbooks.

The cost of government that is spent on municipal employee salaries and benefits is a major problem.

The average government employee makes twice as much as his private sector citizen.
Plus, government employees get much better health and retirement benefits than the private sector employee.

One of Mr. Obama's campaign promises was to go through the Congressional Budget, line by line, with a scalple, and cut out wasteful programs.

The reality is President Obama is the biggest spender in the world's history. That is why there is a huge credibility gap between his words and his deeds

The lack of logic is mind-numbing. Deficits and the resulting debt will be the downfall of our country no matter who's in charge.
It's absolutely correct, both Republicans and Democrats are to blame for the deficit.

We need to pass the balanced budget amendment or some variant to ensure that our politicians stop using taxpayer money for themselves

The Government needs to reduce the deficit and impose fiscal restraint on government spending.
But when you raise taxes and you still expand the deficit that is insanity. That will bankrupt any nation.

The American way of life needs to be rebalanced. Households need to stop spending what they don't have.

Local and state governments need to slash their budgets to live off whatever tax revenues they generate.

The federal government in the U.S simply has to say no to congressional pet projects.
Not to the countries who laugh as they spend our money - and most of all to failing social programs and corporations who lobby their way into getting taxpayers to foot the bill for their greed and shortsightedness.
