Laureate’s readings at Dylan Thomas Centre a double success

Dec. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Swansea is famous for producing one of the world’s most famous poets and it is evident that poetry in the city is just as popular as it has ever been.

Due to extraordinary demand for tickets an extra reading by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy at Swansea's Dylan Thomas Centre has also sold out.

The original performance set to take place at 7.30pm on Friday 9 December sold out in a matter of days, so the extra reading was organised on the same day at 4.30pm.

Carol Ann Duffy became the UK's twentieth Poet Laureate and is one of Britain's best known and most admired poets.

The National Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke is to join Carol Ann at the event.

Jo Furber, Literature Officer at the Dylan Thomas Centre said “After their reading at the centre last December we knew that tickets would be in high demand for this event.

“But after selling out quickly the phone didn’t stop ringing with people still trying to snap up tickets.

“Carol Ann and Gillian were then kind enough to agree to a second reading at 4.30pm on the same day and again the tickets sold out quickly”.
