New DVD set captures the essence of Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 5, 2011 – There was a time when AM radio was the “cutting edge of new media.” Almost 30 years later, the world welcomed the “next great medium” … TV. How odd it seems to think of either as ever being life-changing, but each was.

And Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen was the Catholic pioneer of the original “new media movement” in the Church!

Beginning in 1926, then-Father Fulton Sheen began a broadcast ministry that some have credited with leading millions to the Catholic Church. He even won an Emmy award as Most Outstanding Personality for his role as host of Life is Worth Living, which reached 30 million viewers weekly. In addition to his broadcasting, he served as National Director for the Society of the Propagation of the Faith. Sheen also became the first Latin Rite Bishop ever to offer a Solemn Byzantine Rite Mass in English, in 1955.

As the Cause for Canonization for Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen moves forward, Ignatius Press has released a landmark 2-DVD set, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, that will introduce his media legacy to millions – and reintroduce his charismatic on-air presence to those who remember him as a cherished friend they tuned in to see every week.
