How odd it seems to think of either as ever being life-changing, but each was. And Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen was the Catholic pioneer of the original “new media movement” in the Church! Beginning in 1926, then-Father Fulton Sheen began a broadcast ministry that some have credited with leading millions to the Catholic Church. He even won an Emmy award as Most Outstanding Personality for his role as host of Life is Worth Living, which reached 30 million viewers weekly. In addition to his broadcasting, he served as National Director for the Society of the Propagation of the Faith. Sheen also became the first Latin Rite Bishop ever to offer a Solemn Byzantine Rite Mass in English, in 1955. As the Cause for Canonization for Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen moves forward, Ignatius Press has released a landmark 2-DVD set, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, that will introduce his media legacy to millions – and reintroduce his charismatic on-air presence to those who remember him as a cherished friend they tuned in to see every week. “Archbishop Sheen truly was a pioneer on radio and television, and he brought his unique ministry into homes across America every week,” said Anthony Ryan, Director of Sales & Marketing at Ignatius Press. “We at Ignatius are delighted to share this unique insight into his life and his work. He truly was a Servant of God who led countless people to Jesus and the Catholic Faith.” The DVD set from Ignatius includes the acclaimed new documentary, Servant of All, along with five of the most popular episodes of Sheen’s Life is Worth Living television series. The powerful documentary introduces the beloved Sheen to a new generation that greatly needs his inspiring example. Guests interviewed for the film include Fr. Andrew Apostoli, Archbishop Timothy Dolan, Regis Philbin, Fr. Jonathan Morris, surviving family members and many others. The five remastered episodes of Life is Worth Living provide viewers with a look at his unique, captivating teaching style on the crucial importance of faith, love and spirituality. “Archbishop Sheen has brought so much inspiration to my life as a priest,” said Msgr. Stanley Deptula, Executive Director of the Archbishop Fulton Sheen Foundation. “As his life and teachings have blessed my ministry, it brings me great joy that Ignatius Press has paired Servant of All with a best of Life is Worth Living DVD.
