Dec. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Nothing compares to the Kindle. The fragile, vintage-looking device is great. Its screen is as delicate as the page of a book — as subject to spills and damage. It does have a smell — plastic, which some people like, including me. On its pages (rather than inside its pages — you can’t hide inside a Kindle like you can hide inside a book) is all the imagination we are prevented from feeling while deep inside apps.

It is small, thin, and lightweight, but everything else about Amazon’s Kindle feels old-fashioned. Its buttons require serious pushing, like one of those pocket electronic dictionaries or translators. The screen is a trick of the eye: this being 2011, we assume there is some kind of glow behind the typewriter-like letters, but in reality, the screen is about as high-tech as an Etch-A-Sketch. It does not glow. It does not produce light. In dim lighting, the white background appears that subtle neon green of glow-in-the-dark material, but it does not glow in the dark.

Amazon, the leading online book retailer, creates the most popular e-readers. Their  ’Kindle ’ range includes a number of innovative features: for instance, they remotely  back up copies of every book you buy, so you don’t lose your purchases if you lose the  device.

The Kindle is the hottest e-reader on the planet. The next-gen model has just been released and it proves that New Kindle  models always bring better e-ink screens, more memory and cleaner styling. It’s said that the popular ereader is going to get a make-over this time around and might even lose its physical keyboard.

Many Kindle and Nook owners will agree: having an e-reader makes you read more. The problem is that e-books aren’t cheap–in fact, they don’t cost much less than their hard-copy counterparts. Luckily, the Internet is pretty good at making otherwise expensive things free. We scoured the Web and found a few different options for finding free e-books for your Kindle or Nook.

This was perhaps the biggest surprise, an ebook reader starting at only $79! It has a slightly smaller memory than any of the other readers, and no keypad or touch-screen. But if you just want to read, it does that as well as the others. Still using a 6? Pearl E-ink display it is far smaller in size and weight than any of its predecessors. The new Kindle, is the cheapest one to date.

This one is a true pocket reader since it is the most handy to slip in even your jeans pockets. It only comes with wi-fi, but will be perfect for book lovers that use other devices to access the web. The controls are 4 simple menu buttons and the usual 5 way controller. You can use this to navigate an on-screen keyboard but doubt that a few people would ever bother.

The 4th generation Kindle makes the perfect choice if you just want to read, no frills, no fuss, and not too much cash!

Books are downloaded via WiFi that is supported by cell phone service. The Kindle Store offer over 700,000 eBooks, newspapers, magazines and blogs online. You can search and shop the Kindle Store wirelessly right from your Kindle, allowing you to click, buy, and start reading your purchases in 60 seconds.

E-books are a fraction of the cost of a new print book and there is an extensive library of books in public domain (older books) that are free. You don't fill you boat with books and you can get a book when you want to read it. If you are buying a Kindle for overseas use you need to buy the Kindle 3G or one of the older models that support overseas WiFi.
