Venice Running Tour Now Includes One-of-a-Kind Souvenir

Participants will now receive a medallion fashioned after William Attaway’s popular Running Man sculpture.

“Everyone has t-shirts and we wanted to give our guests something that they would be able to display and truly remember the experience by,” said Cheryl Anker, President & CEO of Off ‘N Running Tours. “During the tour, participants get to see Attaway’s studio and his boardwalk artwork so this is a beautiful way for people to reflect on the fun they had while in Venice.”

The medallions will be given out complimentary to every tour guest. Each and every piece is handcrafted and kiln-fired so no two are alike. The running man sculpture is symbolic of Attaway himself and his stand for people that move forward in a positive direction.

This is the first time in Attaway’s career that he has ever created this kind of piece. Since 1979, he has been working with ceramics, painting and sculpture on a scale few have attempted and is one of Los Angeles’ most well-known artists.  

His name has become synonymous with Venice Beach because of his many pieces of artwork that grace the Venice Beach boardwalk, including the sculpture and mosaics for the renovation of the Historic Venice Ocean Front Walk. Dreams Come True is a twenty-five foot ceramic sculpture, inspired by Los Angeles’ journey to find its own identity, which sits majestically in front of the police station and children’s’ play area.  Along with this epic piece, he covered the exterior walls of three public restroom facilities whose theme was the Running of the Grunion, an annual event in which millions of fish lay their eggs along the southern California coast line.

One of his many career accomplishments include creating installations for the United Nations.

Designed to bring to light the often overlooked artwork of Venice Beach, the Venice Arts Running Tour is a 4-mile walking and running tour in which participants are able to get up close and personal to iconic art pieces. Beginning and ending at the studios of Attaway and Alberto Bevacqua, the tour enables visitors to experience the sides, sounds and smells of this unique destination while taking in pieces such as the ballerina clown sculpture by Jonathan Brofosky, which symbolizes Venice residents, the We Are All One mural, the Venice Public Art Walls and much more.
