By: New England Club Managers David Meador Foundation The New England Club Managers Association (NECMA) David Meador Fund was founded in 1976 with a generous donation of $3,000 from the members of the Chilton Club (Boston, MA) in honor of their well-respected manager of many years, David Meador, who passed away at his desk. The intent of the gift was to further the educational development of those engaged in the field of Club Management. In 1997 the New England Chapter hosted the Seventh Annual Assistant Club Managers Conference for the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), recently renamed the CMAA Mid-Management Conference, in Boston, which donated proceeds of $22,500 to the David Meador Fund. Since 1985, NECMA has sponsored an annual golf tournament – the David Meador Scholarship Fund Tournament – which has solicited donations and gifts from purveyors and vendors. The tournament proceeds have added greatly to the David Meador Fund’s endowment. Additionally, for the past ten years, NECMA Members have voluntarily contributed generously to the Fund through optional donations on their annual Chapter dues invoices, which has added significantly to the Fund. At the same time the David Meador Fund has gifted over $50,000 back to the New England Chapter membership in the form of educational grants and scholarship awards to club management students and club staff. The DMF annual golf tournament, manager and NECMA donations have all contributed to the Year End 2011 fund balance of $157,000.
