Follow on Google News | Skuflix Film VODKA ROCKS! Off To A Fast StartSkuflix launches Kickstarter fundraising campaign to meet promise to introduce screenings and actitainment events beginning January 2012. Kickstarter page features message from Producer/Director John Rubino explaining why he made this indie movie.
By: Yaphet Murphy, Strategic Marketer, New York City In its second week on Kickstarter, VODKA ROCKS! has received pledges covering nearly 20% of funding solicited, with seven weeks remaining in the campaign. The film's Executive Producer Arabella Hutter, in an interview, said, "During the production and postproduction we were carried along the road by a huge amount of support. Actors, crew, production designer, musicians, composer, dp, - the list is endless, worked very hard to make this movie happen. Now that we are in the final phase, it's amazing to experience this support again. Every time someone makes a pledge on Kickstarter, in a day and age where money is a rare commodity, it gives us a rush. It's quite emotional. Feels like love." With the successful completion of the Kickstarter fundraising campaign, VODKA ROCKS! screenings will take place in tandem with other activism entertainment events, a process dubbed by its producers "actitainment." The actitainment concept evolves out of the tradition of comedians like Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Cheech & Chong Marin, entertainers who became symbols of activism based on their performances which pushed the bounds of social appropriateness while keeping audiences laughing in their seats. Skuflix's founders hope that this film also resounds with audiences and see no conflict in a film which tackles modern-day brand wars while injecting humor and other dramatic elements into its narrative. Says Hutter, "Vodka Rocks! is a complex movie narratively. It tends to appeal to viewers who enjoy social commentary and satire, and look for provocative content in a movie rather than the mush provided by most entertainment." Scenes from the film can be viewed on YouTube, and daily updates on the fundraising campaign and the film's progression to theaters are being posted on Facebook and to the blog on the film's website. The Kickstarter fundraising campaign is scheduled to conclude on January 8, 2012.
