Startup Software Developer, Sumatia, Brings Powerful Financial Reporting Software to Market

Nov. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Raleigh, North Carolina - Startup software developer, Sumatia, LLC, announces the release of its Sumatia Financial Reporting Software application.  The software is designed to simplify the closing and reporting cycle through an intuitive interface and direct integration with the client’s business system(s).

Jim Lezzer and Damian Childress partnered to develop an application with a challenging goal in mind: to develop a financial reporting application that was immediately intuitive to the end user while being powerful enough to handle the most complex organizational structures.  Additionally, the system had to integrate with the client’s business systems; unlike many of the existing applications on the market.

With their combined experience in developing and implementing business systems tailored to manufacturing, real estate, and healthcare, they designed an application that achieved this goal.  “I spent years thinking that there had to be a way to simplify this process,” said Childress.  “With the amount of money that I’ve personally seen organizations spend on new business systems, it just didn’t make sense to me that the end result was always Excel™.””

“We feel that we are addressing a real need in the market,” said Lezzer.  “Prospective clients are simply blown away by all that we’ve incorporated into the application: multiple entities, multiple charts of accounts, category-driven reporting, foreign currency conversions, top-level journal entries – all of these features are integrated.  Sumatia is going to be a real game-changer for a lot of companies.”

Mr. Lezzer and Mr. Childress originally met in 1997 when they were teamed up to implement an ERP system designed for corrugated carton and folding box manufacturers.  The two Philadelphia natives fell out of touch, but then reconnected in the summer of 2009.  At that meeting, Mr. Childress presented his prototype for what would eventually evolve into Sumatia.  

They founded Sumatia, LLC in 2010 and began work on the development of the financial reporting application.  “It’s amazing to see what we’ve been able to develop in about a year – it’s proof that small teams can be really effective,” said Childress.  Lezzer added, “We’ve been able to move and adapt very quickly, for example, a prospective client approached us requiring currency conversions – a planned enhancement – we moved it up in the schedule and knocked it out in under two weeks.”
