Mark Hartig Presents at RIMS Meeting on Slip and Falls

Nov. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Mark B. Hartig, shareholder at McCumber, Daniels, Buntz, Hartig & Puig, P.A., presented, “Shifting the Burden on Slip and Falls: How the New Law is Helping Businesses” to attendees of the Tampa Bay Risk and Insurance Management Society’s (RIMS) meeting.  RIMS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the practice of risk management.

Mr. Hartig opened the presentation up by discussing the changes in Slip and Fall Law with the passage of HB 689 (SB 1224).  The discussion focused on the changes in the requirement for proving notice and the effect it will have on claims against businesses.  Mr. Hartig closed the presentation by giving the attendees a cautionary advice based on case law decided before Owens v. Publix.
