Band of Jugglers to entertain crowd at New Jersey Walks For TS event

Nov. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- The second annual New Jersey Walks For TS event is closing in fast -- just four days away now. Everyone from walkers and runners to volunteers and entertainers are in the final stages of preparation for the walk Saturday, Nov. 19, in Mendham's Borough Park.

The walk is an opportunity for people from all over New Jersey and beyond to support the Tourette Syndrome community and the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS).

One of the many groups taking advantage of this opportunity and giving of their time is the Band of Jugglers. Formed on July 15, 2010, the Band of Jugglers is a group of 10 jugglers who will work the crowd and get people hyped before the walk begins. They will juggle balls, clubs, rings, and their contact jugglers will show off their skills.

Band of Jugglers also will be positioned along the walk route to be pointers in case anyone is confused about which way to go once they leave Borough Park. After the walk, participants also will get the chance to try their hand at juggling under the tutelage of the group.

The last time Band of Jugglers worked with NJCTS was earlier this year at the annual Camp Bernie weekend. A great time was had by all then, and the group promises even more excitement this time around.

"We are so looking forward to being involved in this great cause," said Sandra Leith, the Band of Jugglers' spokesperson. "What people can expect from Band of Jugglers ... will be very fun."

This year's New Jersey Walks For TS event will begin with registration and stretching at 9:30 a.m., followed by the walk/fun run at 10 a.m. Among the other performing acts will be Danielle Piacentile, who will sing the National Anthem; Sparkee, the Somerset Patriots' mascot; Leigh McLachlan, a balloon artist; and more.

Opportunities to register both individuals and teams, as well as donate and fundraise on behalf of yourself and/or others, for the walk are still available by visiting http://www.active.com/donate/MendhamWalksForTS. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 1.

Prizes will be awarded for the best team banner, best hat and the top individual and team fundraisers. The top fundraising team (two or more people) will receive a package of sports tickets to the Somerset Patriots and the Rutgers University basketball teams, while the best individual fundraiser (not part of a team) will win a one-night stay at the Hanover Marriott.
