Nov. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, November 2nd, Hayashi & Wayland Accounting & Consulting, LLP and Retirement Plan Services (www.hw-cpa.com), closed their offices in Carmel, King City, Monterey, Paso Robles and Salinas so its workforce could perform more than 500 hours of community service for a wide range of Central Coast not-for-profit organizations.  This was the firm’s second annual “H&W Gives Back” event.

“H & W Gives Back is a way for us to give back to the communities that give so much to us every day.  By making a commitment to close our offices one day a year for a day of community service, we hope to make a small contribution to this community and to foster an environment of community service within our firm.  It gives employees a chance to make a difference and to learn about some of the wonderful organizations that provide services in our communities.  And, getting out of our stuffy accounting offices and working together to better our community is just plain fun!!”, Gina Andersen, CPA, MS and Partner at Hayashi & Wayland.

During “H&W Gives Back,” Hayashi & Wayland employees were engaged in activities such as helping with CASA’s “Coats for Kids” day, cleaning and organizing at the local animal shelter and Redwings Horse Sanctuary, landscaping and repairs for a number of local organizations, preparing and serving lunch at the local Dorothy’s Kitchen for the impoverished, sorting and organizing over 1,000 pairs of donated theatre shoes, and shelf reading library books.  “The work you all [H&W] accomplished took us a long way towards readying the ranch for the wet winter ahead! You also gave the place a seriously good sprucing up for soon coming visitors & kids who benefit from the meaningful programming held at the ranch.”, Todd Farrington, Community Affairs Manager at Big Sur Land Trust.
The organizations assisted throughout the area include:
