New Novel from Cornish AuthorCornish author Jane Pollard, who writes under the name of Jane Jackson, is publishing a new novel. ‘Taken to Heart’ is set in Cornwall and takes up the story of Jenefer Trevanion who features in an earlier novel.
Jane lives in Mylor and has written nearly 30 novels. Just under half of these are historical romances based in Cornwall and written under the pseudonym of Jane Jackson. Taken to Heart picks up the story of Jenefer Trevanion, who appeared in Devil’s Prize. A powerful and moving love story this new novel explores the conflicts involved between villagers who want expansion and those resistant to the development for the disruption they fear it will bring. Jane explains: “Though this story is set during the early 1800s it mirrors the same conflicts that are clear in the difficulties currently facing Falmouth harbour. Public opinion was polarized because of the changes necessary to create jobs and trade.” The main character, Jenefer, featured in an earlier novel, Devil’s Prize. Jane feels that she had to continue the story. “By the end of that book Jenefer had been betrayed by her father and her fiancé, two men she should have been able to trust. Then her home burned down in a fire that killed her father. So in the course of one night she lost everything that defined who she was. I wrote two further books after that but I kept thinking about Jenefer and wondering what happened to her. How did she cope with the traumatic change in her life? In the end I had to write the book to find out.” Earlier this year Jane’s novel Heart of Stone was shortlisted for the Historical Romance Prize in the Romantic Novel of the Year Awards. Taken to Heart is published by Robert Hale, price £18.99, and is available from Falmouth Bookseller, WH Smith and other bookshops. # # # Eventy - Marketing & PR is a full marketing consultancy with specialist skills in PR and communications.
