Oct. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- As European Union countries seem to be in clutches of recession, South India tourism seems to be plunging in deep anxiety as a result. What’s more, Kerala, one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the context of South India tourism is also facing the toughest time. The ‘God’s Own Country’ seems to worry on the account of enjoying the stability it enjoyed in 2010.

As it has recovered largely in wake of the ill-effects of the 2008 global financial meltdown, the new recession is set to make the picture gloomy, however things are not that bad enough.

Taking into consideration the travel and hotel operators, we find that the major tourist destinations of Kerala, which boosts South India Tours more than anything else, travel booking are yet to consolidate even the October-March season have already passed. Hence, what we are witnessing is a dip of 20 to 25 percent dip. In fact, booking for hotels, vehicles, and luxury boats are seemingly performing less.

What’s more, there are strong indications in favour of the current decline as one of the resort-owners in Alappuzha is of the opinion that the last season started with a booking rate of 180 percent plunging down to less than 70 percent so far.

Taking into consideration the reports from Europe, we find that there is no dislike for opting for India travel, however the problem lies in the fact that more and more people are opting for spending less and less money.

Interestingly, barring the dip in the number of arrivals, the Kerala tourism sector stabilized its earnings as its vicinities are welcomed by the domestic tourists. In fact, taking into consideration the earnings from tourism, we find that a 0.77-percent increase in 2009 over the figure for the previous year has been recorded.
