FSCJ already had three other training devices available in their Flight Simulation Lab including an advanced Flight Training Device for turbo-prop pilot training and another AATD for training pilots on the use of the Garmin G-1000 glass cockpit. The Redbird LD has 200 degree wrap-around visuals and realistic flight controls. FSCJ has two Redbird LDs configured as Cessna 172 Skyhawks and two configured as Piper Arrows. All four simulation devices include Garmin GPS avionics with both G530 and G430 installations. Effective September 1, 2011, Sunrise Aviation was awarded the contract to provide pilot training for the Florida State College at Jacksonville students. FSCJ offers an Associate Degree in Professional Pilot Technology and now offers several bachelor’s degrees as well. As a public college, FSCJ is able to offer one of the most economical degrees available for students interested in pilot training and aviation.
