Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Luton’s Richard Gottfried and Birmingham’s Chris Harding won the first Weymouth Open Team Tournament scoring a combined total of 80(+8) having shot rounds of 40 apiece, to take a two-shot victory over runners-up Chris Smith, from Oxford and Emily Gottfried, from Luton, who had scored 40 and 42 respectively in the competition at the 18-hole Pirate Adventure Golf course at the Sea Life Centre in Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, Dorset on Sunday 10th October.

Five teams contested the Weymouth Open Team Tournament which followed the Weymouth Open individual competition. There was a tie for third-place with the team of Wales’ Peter Jones and Birmingham’s Matthew Harding scoring 85, along with the combination of Oxford’s Michael Smith and Walton-on-Thames player Oliver Florence. The London team of Richard Skeggs and Paul Jones were fifth.

As winners Richard Gottfried, the 2008 Weymouth Open Champion, and Chris Harding, the reigning World Crazy Golf Champion, won a Team Cup and a meal and round of drinks at the William Henry in Weymouth.

The format of the team event saw a draw made to pair the top five players following the Weymouth Open individual tournament with those that had been ranked in the bottom half of the results list.

The next tournaments on the BMGA Tour calendar are the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open and the Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings in October.
