Oct. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Winter is the most difficult season of all for hair, thus it is so important that we don’t send our hair into hibernation there are products we can use to keep it alive and vibrant.

Winter comes with changes in temperature, humidity and the environment and can take its toll on your hair.  Every time you step from a heated home, or workplace, into the cold air outdoors your hair struggles to keep pace.

Many people try hats to keep hair from taking a turn to go floppy and limp, but hats can mess up your hair and more importantly cause your scalp to sweat.  The putting on and taking off of hats can cause problems, for example if your hair becomes damp under a hat and then you take if off in a warm atmosphere, the hair will dry unevenly and as sure as God made apples you will probably have an attack of the ‘frizzies’.

Winter can produce problems for hair and it is the worst time for flaky and itchy scalps.  We live in a world of continual stress, and our stress levels are higher during winter, this can of course encourage the production of flakes and oiliness on our scalps.

The more we worry about the condition of our hair the more it increases the stress level, and you have sunk into an everlasting circle of hair ‘blues’.  A lot of people are frightened to continue daily shampooing and conditioning during the winter months for fear of catching cold, forget these old wives tales, in winter our resistance is lower and this is what will give you a cold, wet hair has nothing to do with it, and remember less frequent washing will encourage a flaky scalp and lank hair.

Good quality hair treatments can perk up your scalp, massage well into your scalp leave for the time that is recommended on the instructions, and then follow up with a quality shampoo and choose from the many conditioners that are on the market today.

In winter our diets seem to go to more stodgy foods, and we don’t drink as much water, but diet for healthy hair is very important.  Of course salads and fruit in summer don’t seem so appealing when its cold and wet, but there is plenty you can eat to maintain a good supply of vitamins, for example a good hot pot as long as it contains plenty of vegetables can only do you good, plenty of vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, and topped up with a whole range of tangerines and clementines which are great winter fruits.

A spokesman for Fabriah based on the Island of Jersey said “we offer plenty of hair products that will take away the winter blues, and our hair tools are second to none, for example top of the range hair straighteners, and hair dryers, used properly is an asset in the hair care regime, using the best products on your hair will not only give you shiny, healthy hair but will protect it from the elements”.

Don’t cover up your hair in winter, as long as you use quality hair products let it be free, and use products that will ensure your beautiful hair will look great whatever the season.
