Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- As we all know, high blood pressure is a major problem today and the biggest difficulty with this serious and often life-threatening condition is that it rarely displays any symptoms at all, especially for elderly people. We are looking for something that can test our health as a family doctor.

Normal blood pressure is 120/80 or lower. High blood pressure is 140/90 or higher. If your blood pressure is between 120/80 and 140/90, you have something called “pre-hypertension,” which means that you are in the beginning stages and at risk for high blood pressure.

Only your doctor can tell you whether you have high blood pressure. Most doctors will check your blood pressure several times on different days before deciding that you have high blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure or pre-hypertension, you will need to check your blood pressure regularly and keep in touch with your family doctor. However, to go and see the doctor weekly even monthly is so expensive and really waste time and money.

For this reason, it is vital that we all have our blood pressure checked from time to time and there is no easier way to do that nowadays than by using your own home blood pressure monitor.

Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of the artery.

Hypertension means high blood pressure.

Hypotension means low blood pressure.

Brachial artery is a blood vessel that goes from your shoulder to just below your elbow. You measure the pressure in this artery.

Systolic pressure is the highest pressure in an artery when your heart is pumping blood to your body.

Diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure in an artery when your heart is at rest.

Blood pressure measurement is made up of both the systolic and the diastolic pressure. It is normally written like this: 120/80, with the systolic (top) number first.

Wrist Full Automatic Electronic Blood Pressure Meter
The digital monitor is easier to use than the aneroid unit. It has a gauge and stethoscope in one unit, and the numbers are easy to read. It also has an error indicator, and deflation is automatic. Inflation of the cuff is either automatic or manual, depending on the model. This blood pressure monitoring device is good for hearing-impaired patients, since there is no need to listen to heart sounds through the stethoscope.

If you want to keep your health as well as saving money and time, I do recommend the blood pressure monitor
