Oct. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Following an exciting six-month schedule, the 2011 Carlisle Events’ season came to a close with Fall Carlisle, September 27-October 2 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and Carlisle Expo Center.  The collector car swap meet, car corral and auction, presented by Auctions America by RM, saw a strong turnout both on the grounds and at the Expo center where record numbers were posted as part of the three-day auto auction.

With nearly 8,100 vending spaces filled with millions of items, numerous cars in the car corral and many more in the auction, Fall Carlisle proved once again that its historical significance in the automotive world is justified.  Leading up to the event itself, vendors spent days setting up shop by covering the fairgrounds with all types of automotive pieces and parts.  In addition, car owners hoping to move their ride in the car corral lined the area with over 1,000 cars of various makes and models.  With the gates opening Wednesday at 7 a.m., the influx of attendees was non-stop throughout the weekend.

Following nearly two days of on-grounds action, festivities moved down the street to the Carlisle Expo Center on Thursday for the first of three auction days.  Building on the strong results posted during their debut sale at Spring Carlisle, the Auctions America by RM team lifted the gavel on a diverse roster of nearly 300 collector cars, joined by a select range of memorabilia, before a packed house generating over $2.79 million in sales with a solid 58% sell-through rate. Claiming top honors was a dramatically-styled, show-quality 1959 DeSoto Firedome Convertible which realized a final sales price of $99,000, followed closely by the sale of an exceptional, low-mileage 2001 BMW Z8 Roadster for $90,200. In addition, the auction included the sale of a 2006 Ford Escape, donated by Giant Food Stores, which sold for $11,500 with full proceeds benefiting the local Carlisle branch of the Salvation Army.

As the final auction day of Saturday transitioned into the final day of Fall Carlisle itself, cars were once again the focus with the ever-popular cruise-in.  Nearly 30 cars rolled on site Sunday morning to be part of the final car show of the year.  Over a dozen awards were doled out, including Best of Show, Best Orphan and more.

In addition to the automotive excitement on the fairgrounds and the Expo Center, Hollywood came calling with the TV program “What’s My Car Worth?” filming three episodes of its highly-rated program.  Carlisle-themed events are tentatively scheduled to air in November on Velocity (formerly HD Theater).

“Although Mother Nature wasn’t on our side this year, we’re happy to see the car, truck and motorcycle hobby is as strong as ever,” said co-owner Lance Miller.  “With the addition of spring and fall events in Auburn, Indiana to our schedule, we’re pleased with the synergy between Auctions America by RM and Carlisle Events. We’re looking forward to continuing our tradition as a respected leader in the automotive hobby for many years to come,” added Miller.  “We appreciate our vendors, attendees and community support year in and year out.”

With the events season concluded, the focus shifts to 2012 where a full slate of automotive excitement will return to both the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and at the Auburn Auction Park in Auburn, Indiana.  Spring Carlisle is scheduled for April 25-29, 2012 with the ever-popular auction, presented by Auctions America by RM, commencing on April 26.
