| A unique report on the post riots crackdown shows the public want parent power back.Unique report asks Londoners what they think about the post London riots sentencing.
By: WORLDwrite WORLDbytes Citizen TV makers visited Wood Green, North London, to gauge the view on the streets. Some interviewees were bewildered by the sudden labelling of their children as ‘feral’ by the same government that has upheld a never-before- WORLDbytes Director Ceri Dingle said today: “Unlike the polls which suggest stiffer sentencing is all it takes, this report shows the public have not been appeased; far from it. People are concerned that underlying problems have not been addressed at all and as one woman explained, the armed raids on rioters homes are about shutting the door after the horse has bolted and trying to look good. Many complained they just feel they aren’t allowed to discipline young people, to make judgements. Young and old explain how this would never have happened in Pakistan, Ghana, Liberia or the West Indies. It takes ‘a town to raise a child’ one guy tells us yet here if you correct a kid you get the “you can’t touch me.” Another tells us: “after the mess the rioters have created… you want us to get them off the streets…but you have taken away our authority.. that is the problem”. Policy makers would do well to watch this report and if they are serious, learn from these gems of public wisdom. “ The report The View On The Streets: Riot Control is available to watch on WORLDbytes at: http://www.worldbytes.org/ WORLDbytes welcomes reproduction, embedding and sharing of this report.
