McArthurGlen’s Swindon Designer Outlet Unveils The First Ever Giant Lego® Handbag

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- This larger than life installation has been unveiled as the centre reports unprecedented demand for accessories, with sales of luxury leather goods up by 8.3% month-on-month in August.

To mark the boom in accessories and in celebration of the re-launch of McArthurGlen’s Swindon OSPREY LONDON store, the centre revealed a giant replica of one of the most popular and elegant OSPREY LONDON handbag styles, the Audrey, built entirely out of LEGO®.

Constructed by the only UK LEGO Certified Professional and built with more than 24,000 bricks, the handbag towers at over 2.8m in height and 60cm in width, with the entire replica weighing between 80 – 100kg. The creation, which took over 20 days of manpower to build, is thought to be the world’s first ever giant LEGO® handbag sculpture created.

Tina Cumpstey, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen’s Swindon Designer Outlet, says: “More and more shoppers are discovering outlet retailing and taking advantage of the great quality products on offer at up to 60% less– an ethos we pride ourselves on at McArthurGlen’s Swindon. As a result we noticed a significant increase in demand for accessories during SS11 including shoes, scarves and handbags in particular.”
