John Lewis draws on rich heritage to launch new exciting private label, John Lewis & Co this September

John Lewis is proud to announce the launch of a brand new menswear collection – John Lewis & Co – inspired by the rich history of the retailer and the country’s excellence in tailoring, outwear and utility fashions.

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Matt McCormack, Head of Buying Menswear says “We have seen a real demand for less commoditised men’s fashion and our customers are increasingly interested in the narrative behind the pieces their buying and an assurance about the product’s authenticity and provenance. Working with great suppliers and bringing quality garments to our customers at an affordable price is an essential part of our brand’s DNA.”

The John Lewis design team has delved into the John Lewis archives to retrieve classic items that have a resonance and are worthy and relevant for reinvention today. Outer wear is a major component and the collection offers a range of elegant functional jackets and top coats that compliment the proportions and styles of the contemporary wardrobe. Highlights include a Harris tweed blazer for town and city wear, a military inspired Abraham Moon, air force blue full length coat and a superb millerain waxed fisherman’s coat in an outsize cut. The range would not be complete without a pea coat in Melton wool, expertly reinvented for todays urban lifestyle. All items have that sense of detail and quality of finish that is a John Lewis guarantee.

The collection spans to knitwear and shirting. John Lewis & Co’s aim is to collaborate with traditional methods of making and manufacturing, and deliver new / old favourites to the wardrobe. Pieces include the essential winter crew neck and an oversized hand knit shawl collared sweater for blustery walks. Knits are sized for layering over the collections heavily laundered ‘love worn’ shirts and classic Breton jerseys.

The John Lewis & Co Collection has a distinctly authentic feel and an individual look that is beyond fashion. Ticketing and labelling have been devised to underline the heritage of each item with details of the garments sartorial provenance.
