New Assessment Tool Measures Readiness for ICD-10

The Contexo University ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer has been developed to assist office managers, medical coders/billers, physicians and others with ICD-10 preparation and planning.

Sept. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Physicians, coders, office managers, consultants, and others have been tasked with developing a roadmap for ICD-10 integration within their organizations, and many don’t know where to begin. Contexo University has developed a tool that makes preparation and study of the ICD-10 guidelines easy, and allows medical professionals to assess their readiness for ICD-10 implementation – the ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer.

The October 2013 implementation date of ICD-10 will be here before many will be ready for it; medical coders/billers, office staff and physicians need to start preparing now for ICD-10 to ensure proper reimbursement. The ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer is the fastest and easiest way to test the knowledge of the CM and PCS guidelines and identify knowledge gaps.

“The complexity of ICD-10 will challenge existing coding and documentation norms within the healthcare industry,” says Bradden Blair, Dean of Education for Contexo University.  He adds, “While many are concerned about being adequately prepared for ICD-10 implementation in 2013, few objective assessment tools have been developed to accurately measure ICD-10 readiness.  We’ve gone to great lengths to make sure this product meets the diverse needs of the coding/billing market and expect this product to greatly simplify the planning and training process for our customers.”

The ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer contains two comprehensive ICD-10-CM proficiency exams and one ICD-10-PCS proficiency exam.  A proprietary database of over 500 ICD-10 specific questions was used to create the product and challenges understanding of every aspect of the ICD-10 guidelines. Each question has been hand selected to ensure the most accurate assessment of ICD-10 comprehension and preparation.  Not only does this tool identify questions missed, but also explains why each question was missed to further enhance the learning process.

Working with the ICD-10 code set will require training for office staff and physicians alike. To know where medical professionals are in the scheme of training for ICD-10 is half the battle, the ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer will allow professionals to hit the ground running once the implementation date hits.  This new tool is the most effective way to assess understanding of the CM and PCS guidelines and identify gaps in the preparation of ICD-10 – so that there are no surprises later.
