Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Canton, CONNECTICUT – Invata, a global provider of supply chain and facilities optimization, software and controls, today released the second in a series of expert videos from noted supply chain industry experts. In an open style website forum, Invata will be presenting expert commentary on key pressure points within the supply chain: Inventory, Infrastructure, Labor and Transportation.

In the second video of the series, Diamond Head Associates Managing Principal Randy Gibson discusses the changing role of modeling and simulation in the supply chain industry. Mr. Gibson notes that, “Historically, simulation had been used for strategic decision making, but with recent changes in technology we can now extend these tools from strategic analysis to operational support.” He added, “The tools we have available for complex mathematical analysis can now easily help us to fine-tune facilities so that we don’t over-automate, or build buildings that are too large or overstaffed.”

According to Kevin Reader, CMO of Invata, “As industry thought leaders, our senior management team believes deeply that Invata must promote ideas, approaches and insights that challenge the status quo. Only in this way will our industry continue to improve and innovate – and Invata is committed to be a leader in this process.”

Ryan Sheehan, CEO of Invata, is also a strong proponent for the use of modeling, simulation and animation tools in the supply chain and facility design process; tools that are used extensively by the Invata engineering teams during the analysis and implementation phases of major programs. “With recent developments in this technology, we can use these tools to not only optimize the design of facilities and the supply chain, but also the day-to-day operation of these facilities,” Sheehan said. “This capability allows us to build quite accurate what if scenarios, and construct plans to deal with major potential events and interruptions.”
