Innovative Systems Announces IPTV Bandwidth Management Solution

MITCHELL, SD – Innovative Systems announces that it will soon be offering a solution on its IPTV Middleware that will improve subscriber QoS in homes with multiple STBs that are receiving limited video bandwidth.

“With the Advanced Whole-Home Bandwidth Management solution,” commented Ryan Tupper, Innovative Systems Voice and Video Product Director, “companies who are offering video where limited bandwidth is available will be able to deploy multiple set tops where STB’s will communicate with each other and manage the bandwidth available automatically. The Bandwidth Management component will be particularly beneficial for video providers delivering IPTV to homes through a DSL service. “

The amount of bandwidth (digital bit-rate) to a home is a finite resource. It is possible to populate a household with a number of STBs that, if uncontrolled, may join more video streams than the bandwidth to the home can support. If this happens, the video to any or all STBs may be degraded or interrupted.
The Bandwidth Management feature allows the system to regulate the amount of bandwidth used by a set of STBs in a home to avoid over-saturation of the inbound capabilities of the home network.

One Innovative Systems Middleware client looking forward to the Bandwidth Management solution is Premier Communications of Sioux Center, Iowa.
