PRLog -- Leading systems integrator and bespoke machine builder, Astech Projects will be displaying its latest innovative technology and presenting its custom services on stand E85 at the PPMA Show, Birmingham NEC, UK from 27 – 29 September. Integrating equipment from major suppliers of commercial processing and packaging automation, Astech will display the Motoman SDA20D twin arm robot, in combination with a Festo Bionic Finn gripper. The advanced flexibility of this robot will be demonstrated as it runs through a series of movements onsite at the show.
As a ‘human-like’
dual-arm robot, the Motoman SDA20D has 15 axes of movement; 7 per arm, plus a single axis for base rotation, enabling it to turn 360º. Both robotic arms can work together in the handling of heavy objects, or independent operations can be performed simultaneously. The Festo Bionic Fin gripper provides gentle gripping, while its versatile fingers adapt to different shapes and contours, making it ideal for small, fragile or irregularly shaped products. Manufactured using a selective laser sintering process known as rapid prototyping, each part of the gripper is printed on 0.1 mm layers of polyacrylamide powder that fuse together to form the solid component. This fully integrated robot is ideal for use in picking, packing and processing applications across the pharma, medical, consumer goods, automotive, aerospace, electronics and food sectors.
Astech Projects is able to design, build, integrate, test and deliver complete automation solutions. Following project completion, Astech also offers complete piece of mind with its dedicated REACTS® planned maintenance and technical support service.
