Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- (Portland) – The Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) based in London, England has recently expanded their course offerings to Portland, Maine. Two sessions have already been held. The course will be taught by Adam Chase through his company the “Grape Experience,” which is the approved program for the WSET in New England.

WSET courses are offered in every major city in the US and in 55 countries around the world. Because of Maine’s solid and nationally recognized restaurant presence, the demand for wine knowledge through WSET has presented itself to the market. Adam decided to offer weekend intensive courses in Portland to consolidate time and expenses for the students as an alternative to traveling to Boston on a weekly basis.

The next class offered in Portland is the Advanced WSET Course, which will start Saturday October 15th, 2011 and will progress for two full weekends, with a 2 hour final exam on a third weekend. Systematic wine tasting is a part of every class session, with over 90 wines tasted in this course. The Advanced Certificate is geared towards wine professional as well as people interested in entering the wine industry. Consumers with a serious interest in wine will also enjoy this course as it is interactive and customized to individual class dynamics and interests. Students who successfully pass the final examination and blind wine tasting are entitled to the title “WSET Certified.”

The less rigorous Intermediate course will be offered in Portland this winter with dates to be determined. This course is a good starting point for the exploration of the diversity wine styles available. The course gives you a solid base of product knowledge of wines and spirits and will leave you wishing to explore even more of these fascinating subjects. The course will form a good basis for you to progress to Level 3 Advance Certificate.

Adam Chase leads Grape Experience and its programs in Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area and now in Portland, Maine. He has worked in the wine industry for 12 years as an educator, retailer and consultant. He is an Associate with the Institute of Wine and Spirits and holds the Honors Diploma certification from London's Wine and Spirits Educational Trust.
