Follow on Google News | Discover Long Lost Vista at Rattlesnake PointA long-abandoned scenic viewpoint overlooking Upper Klamath Lake will be the subject of a walking history tour to be offered Saturday, Sept. 17, by the Klamath County Museum.
By: Discover Klamath The tour includes a discussion of the history of the nearby Algoma sawmill site and the unique railroad logging system used by the lumber company. The walk is physically challenging, and is not recommended for anyone with limited mobility. Participants will walk through brush and climb a steep hill for about 200 yards to reach the viewpoint. After that, the hike will continue for about a mile on smooth asphalt. Because of limited parking space, the walk is limited to 25 participants. Those interested are asked to call the Klamath County Museum at 541-883-4208 to reserve a spot and obtain details on the hike location.
